Laura Hoven

Growing up with a mom who worked as a seamstress, I learned to sew at an early age. I remember making a skirt in 2nd grade for a project and having to sew and rip and sew a seam until it met my mom's exacting standards.
As an adult, I would sew quilts or a piece of clothing when the moment of creativity hit. In 2010, my spouse graduated seminary and needed an ordination stole. I had recently attended a fabric dyeing class and decided to put my new skills into action.
I wanted the stole to represent fire but I didn't know it would light something inside of me as well. The best part: it was a joint creative effort of love with my mom.
After that, people started reaching out to see if I could make them a stole. After a few years, I attended our synod assembly and then took what didn't sell and opened an Etsy store.

Fast forward to 2026 and here I am, a sewist who gets to work with the most amazing fabrics and incredibly interesting people. You won't find any fringe or gold embroidery but you will see curated, thoughtful designs and fabrics that make you think in a new way.
I look forward to a conversation with you. I'm curious to see where it leads. Whether you are looking for modern paraments for Ordinary Time or a set of new stoles to celebrate a life well lived, I'm excited for what is to come. Feel free to reach out.
Thanks for taking time to explore my page.
